Game on!

Just quickly - THE ABSOLUTE readers digest basics of a Roller Derby bout:
Two all girl, quad wearing (no inline skates) teams of 5 skaters each compete against each other around a track.

Each team consists of three Blockers (forming the ‘pack’), one Pivot (starts at the front of the pack) and one Jammer (starts at the rear of the pack).

The Jammers from each team try to weave through the pack whilst the pack tries to stop their oppositions Jammer from passing.

The jammer scores points for her team by passing opposing players, the pivot leads her teams pack, and the blockers use their 'booty' to stop opposing players (especially the jammer) from getting past.

Each role has differing requirements, so all shapes and sizes can join in the fun, as long as you can keep up with the pack.

We follow the rules set by the WFTDA in the US. For more information you can visit:
Womens Flat Track Derby Association
International WFTDA website

All team skaters must be 18 or over and female. Men and women 18 and over can join as Referees, announcers, coaches etc. Let us know if you or someone you know of is interested in learning any of these non team skater roles.
